About Rist Law Offices

A law firm focused on helping victims of violent crimes.

After an attack, rape, sexual assault, or other serious crime, victims believe that the only redress they have in a  court of law is through the criminal case.  Often, victims are left feeling that the criminal received less than what they deserved or that more should have been done to prevent the crime.  This is where the civil side of a criminal case can be a powerful tool to help crime victims.

This site was created by Rist Law Offices to provide crime victims with useful information about what their legal options are in civil court following a crime.

While serving as an assistant prosecuting attorney in West Virginia, Thomas Rist experienced the frustrations that crime victims felt with the criminal justice system.  The experience of prosecuting criminals coupled with knowledge gained from working in private practice as a plaintiff and defense attorney motivated Thomas to start a law firm whose focus is on serving crime victims.  This background provides unequaled, first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing a crime victim when they are working to rebuild their lives.

Service to the Client

Rist Law Offices has a client focused practice.  We are dedicated to providing outstanding legal service to every client, every day.  All of our clients have the personal cellular phone number and email address of everyone at the firm who is working on their case.  The firm uses the latest in legal technologies to keep in touch with clients and to move cases aggressively towards a resolution.  We take pride in making sure that phone calls and emails are promptly returned.  We also provide all clients with frequent updates on their cases.  This extra effort allows the client to make informed decisions about their cases.

We accept all crime victim cases on a contingency fee basis.  This means that no fee is paid until a case is settled or won at trial.

If you have been the victim of a violent crime, contact us to see how we can help you today.  We offer a free, confidential consultation to our clients.  During this consultation we will sit down with the potential client and discuss every aspect of their case.  No matter how long this initial meeting takes, there is absolutely no charge.   We can be reached toll free at 1-866-982-5299.  Thomas Rist can be emailed directly at tom@helpwv.com.
